Anthony Charles Beilenson

(1932 - 2017)

Anthony Charles Beilenson was a Jewish American politician and former member of the U.S. House of Representatives.

Beilenson (b. October 26, 1932) was born in New Rochelle, New York, and attended schools in Mt. Vernon, New York. He graduated with a B.A. from Harvard University in 1954 and earned his LL.B. from Harvard Law School in 1957.

From 1963 to 1966, Beilenson served in the California State assembly and then, from 1967 to 1976, served in the California State senate.

In November 1976, Beilenson was elected as a Democrat to represent California's 24th district in the U.S. House of Representatives. He was subsequently re-elected nine times, serving until January 1997. Beilenson was not a candidate for reelection in 1996.
