Daniel Fuchs

FUCHS, DANIEL (1909–1993), U.S. novelist and screenwriter. Raised in the Williamsburg section of Brooklyn, Fuchs wrote three naturalistic novels based upon his experiences there: Summer in Williamsburg (1934), Homage to Blenholt (1936), and Low Company (1937). These were later published as one volume in 1961. The stories he wrote for the Saturday Evening Post led him to Hollywood, where he wrote a number of successful scripts for motion pictures. West of the Rockies was published in 1971. The Apathetic Bookie Joint appeared in 1979; The Golden West: Hollywood Stories was published in 2005.
