Marilyn Hirsch
(1944 - 1988)
Born in Chicago and trained as a historian of Indian and
Buddhist art, Hirsch taught at Cooper Union and at the New York University
Institute of Fine Arts. She puts her artistic talents to work in
illustrating over thirty children's books, mostly on Jewish themes, and
often relied on historical research to provide the backdrop for each story
of a particular holiday or past event. Her books continue to be used
by Jewish educators and loved by children everywhere.
