Yitzhak Cohen was born
in Israel in
1951. He served in the IDF and
was educated in a Talmudic college.
Cohen is a former Deputy
Mayor of Ashkelon and
a former Secretary-General of El Hama'ayan,
the Shas-affiliated
educational institution.
Yitzhak Cohen was elected
to the Knesset in
1996. He served as a member of the Labor
and Social Affairs and Finance Committees.
He served as Minister of
Religious Affairs from July 1999 until his
resignation in July 2000.
In May 2001, Yitzhak Cohen
was appointed Deputy Minister of Finance.
In May 2006 Yitzhak Cohen
was appointed Minister, responsible for the
religious councils.
Following the 2015 election, Cohen was appointed to the position of Deputy Minister of Finance in Israel's 34th government.
He is married and has ten
children.
