Eitan Cabel
(1959 - )
Eitan Cabel was born
in Rosh Ha'ayin, Israel, in 1959. He served in the IDF as a Sergeant Major and attended the Hebrew
University of Jerusalem.
Cabel served as President
of the Hebrew University Students’ Union and
was a former aide to Agriculture Minister Katz-Oz,
Opposition Leader Shimon
Peres, and Housing
Minister Ben-Eliezer.
A Member of Knesset since 1996, he has served as Chairman of the Knesset
Economics Committee, and a member of the Constitution,
Law and Justice, State Control, Finance, House, and
Education, Culture, and Sports Committees. He has
also been an active lobbyist, promoting the interests
of reserve and enlisted soldiers, security guards,
the environment, Israel's cities, and in particular
the residents of Tel
Aviv-Yafo.
In May 2006 Eitan
Cabel was appointed Minister, responsible for the Israel
Broadcasting Authority.
He is married and
the father of two.
