Daniel Ellison
(1886 - 1960)
ELLISON, Daniel, a Representative from Maryland; born
in Russia, February 14, 1886; as an infant, was brought to the United
States by his parents; attended the public schools of Baltimore, Md.;
was graduated from Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, Md., in 1907
and from the law department of the University of Maryland at Baltimore
in 1909; was admitted to the bar the same year and commenced practice
in Baltimore, Md.; served as a member of the Baltimore city council
1923-1942; elected as a Republican to the Seventy-eighth Congress (January
3, 1943-January 3, 1945); unsuccessful candidate for reelection in 1944
to the Seventy-ninth Congress; resumed the practice of law in Baltimore,
Md.; member of the State senate 1946-1950; died in Baltimore, Md., August
20, 1960, interment in Hebrew Friendship Cemetery.
