Lester Holtzman

(1913 - 2002)

Lester Holtzman was a Jewish Americna politician and member of the U.S. House of Representatives.

Holtzman (born June 1, 1913; died November 12, 2002) was born in New York City. He later raduated from St. John’s Prelaw School and St. John’s Law School with an LL.B. in 1935. He was admitted to the bar that same year and began practice in Queens County.

In November 1952, Holtzman was elected as a Democrat to the U.S. House of Representatives. He was subsequently re-elected four times and served until his resignation from Congress on December 31, 1961.

Holtzman was elected a justice of the New York State Supreme Court on November 7, 1961, and served from January 1, 1962, through 1973.

 He died in Tamarac, Florida in November 2002.
