The Lindsey O. Graham Sanctioning Russia and Iran Act of 2026 (H.R. 5334) is a 61-page measure focused overwhelmingly on sanctioning Russia and entities supporting its war against Ukraine. The Senate approved the amended bill on August 7, 2026, by a vote of 86-11, and the House concurred in the Senate amendments on September 16 by a vote of 262-159, sending the legislation to President Donald Trump. Despite Iran’s inclusion in the title, only one short paragraph in the measure pertains specifically to Iran. It extends the Iran Sanctions Act of 1996 for five years, from 2026 through 2031. SEC. 201. EXTENSION OF THE IRAN SANCTIONS ACT OF 1996.
Section 13(b) of the Iran Sanctions Act of 1996 (Public Law 104-172; 50 U.S.C. 1701 note) is amended by striking “2026” and inserting “2031”.
