Another area targeted for regional cooperation was tourism. To that effect, a multilateral working group on tourism was to meet in Cairo for the continuation of previously started discussions on promotion of tourism. The purpose of the talks was to achieve the establishment of a regional tourism organization. Text of a Tourism Ministry statement follows:
A delegation led by Tourism Ministry Legal Advisor Dov Kolani will leave for Cairo tonight, Monday, 26.6.95 for the continuation of multilateral talks in the tourism field. The talks will begin tomorrow and last for two days and will include members of the Foreign Ministry as well as representatives from Israel's hotel industry. The talks will be chaired by Japan and representatives from the U.S., Russia, the European Union, Egypt, Jordan and the Palestinian Authority will participate. Representatives from Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Morocco, Tunisia, Bahrain and Oman have also been invited to the talks.
The aim of the talks is to formulate wording for an agreement to establish a regional tourism organization, so that a meeting scheduled for 17.7.95, can take place during which more senior government officials will sign the treaty.
