Paul von Hase
(1885 - 1944)
Lt.-General Paul von Hase placed his forces at the
disposal of the conspirators for the anticipated September 1938 and November 1939 coup attempts against Hitler.
He energetically supported Colonel von Stauffenberg's coup attempt on July
20, 1944, by attempting to rally behind the uprising as many forces
as possible. Hase begged Deputy Commander of Military District-3 (Berlin),
Gen. von Thuengen to seize the initiative and send troops to Bendlerstrasse
to keep the coup moving. Later, he visited Reich Minister Joseph
Goebbels' residence where he was arrested.
He was tried, sentenced to death, and hanged by the Nazi regime.
