Merrill Moses

Merrill Moses is a Jewish American Olympic water polo goalkeeper.

Born in 1977 in Harbor City, California, Moses competed in the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, China and won a silver medal for Team USA. In August 2012, he competed at the London Olympic Games.

At 6’3” and 205 lbs., Moses is a formidable force in water polo and a terrific goalkeeper. At the 2012 FINA World League Super Final, he started every match and logged an impressive 58 saves. At the 2011 Pan American Games, Moses posted 36 saves over 65% of shots; he won a Gold Medal and Olympic berth there, as well.

Moses collected 56 saves at the 2011 FINA World League Super Final in Florence, Italy, and had 54 saves at the 2010 competition in Nis, Serbia. He was named Most Valuable Player of 2010 Water Polo Men’s National Championships with the New York Athletic Club.

At the 2012 London Olympics, Moses competed with the rest of Team USA men's water polo in eight events: Group B Match #s 6, 8, 16, 19, and 30, Quarterfinal 1, Classification 5-8 - Match #1, and Classification 7-8. Moses' team beat Great Britain in Match #16, Romania in Match #8, and Montenegro in Group B Match #6.

In high school, Moses played the saxophone and viola, and started playing water polo the summer before his freshman year because he did not want to play football in the heat. In his spare time, he enjoys scuba diving, snowboarding, and cooking.
