Museums in Jerusalem: The Museum of Taxes

The Museum of Taxes in Jerusalem is run under the Israeli Ministry of Finance. The purpose of the museum is to show visitors the history and importance of tax and tariff collection.

Artifacts and documents in the museum date back to ancient Israel, but they give information about recent tax history as well. The museum identifies tax records in the Biblical period, during the Ottoman Empire and during the British Mandate.

For researchers or for those who want to learn more, the Museum of Taxes also houses a reference library. The library is open to the public and is free to use.
