The United Nations Emergency Force (UNEF) was a UN military force established by the
General Assembly to secure an end to the
Suez-Sinai Campaign. UNEF-I was deployed in
Egypt from 1956 to 1967. In 1973, the UN established UNEF-II to oversee the implementation of the Egypt-Israel
ceasefire following the
Yom Kippur War. Its deployment lasted from October 1973 to July 1979.
