Rafi (Israel Labor List) was established by David Ben-Gurion for the 1965 elections as a protest against Mapai’s action in the Lavon Affair. Rafi gained ten seats in the next elections. Shimon Peres served as its secretary general and was instrumental in bringing Rafi and Mapai together to form the Labor Party in 1968.
