There is a very
small Jewish community of no more than 50 to 60 members
in Mbabane, the capital of Swaziland. The
community consists of Israelis, South
African Jews, and descendents from World
War II refugees. Many Holocaust survivors chose to settle in Swaziland after
South Africa refused their admittance. Jews
have experienced little anti-Semitism and been active in the business and legal
communities of the country. One noteworthy
Jew from Swaziland was Stanley Sapire, Chief
Justice of the Swazi Court of Appeal.
Swaziland also maintains
economic and political.relations with
the State
of Israel.
