Das Schwarze Korps

Das Schwarze Korps (The Black Corps), first introduced in 1935, was the official weekly newspaper and propaganda agency of the SS, which every SS member was required to read and induce others to read. The newspaper was published by the Reichsführung-SS, (High Command of the SS), under direction of SS-Standartenführer Günter d'Alquen. In late 1939, d'Alquen took over command of the newly forming SS-Kriegsberichter Kompanie, (War Correspondents Company) and direction of Das Schwarze Korps was passed to Kurt Eggers until his death in August 1943. The paper was printed by the NSDAP's own, Eher Verlag, publishing house in Munich with the editorial office in Berlin and continued in circulation until the end of the war as the only uncensored newspaper in Germany.
